Power! (Enter maniacal laugh here) No really I mean power, electricity, juice, utilities, voltage, current, whatever you call it, I'm grateful for it tonight. Due to the ice and snow storm many in our area are without power tonight. Our lights went out for 1 second. Just long enough to reset the clocks and satellite box, but that is very little inconvenience compared to others. I really appreciate all the men and women out there tonight working to keep our power on and keep us safe and warm. Thank you and I pray you get to go home soon! (On a side note: My trip to TN is postponed until next week. :( Not happy but at least I'll still get to see my sister soon.)
Even with below freezing temps I am still grateful for ice cream. Lately I have made some major changes in my diet. I have eliminated all wheat, corn, soft drinks, fast food, pizza, candy, cookies, etc... I have really, drastically overhauled my food intake in an effort to get healthier and improve my efforts in dealing with fibromyalgia. Knowing that eliminating all my previous comfort foods that I am at risk for bingeing and sabotaging my best efforts I have allowed myself to have one treat: ice cream. I only get all natural vanilla with some chocolate syrup (with no high fructose corn syrup). I stay away from the ice creams with goodies added and I try to limit myself to small portions here and there. I am aware that this may not be the best option I have left for myself but it is the "lesser" of the evils I used to eat and it is something that I need to help myself along in this journey. As I continue to make changes and find alternative foods to add in to my diet along with fruits and veggies maybe I will come across a treat that is more within the parameters of the new dietary plan I am creating for myself. But for now I am grateful for and love my ice cream!
I am thankful for warmth anywhere I can find it. My space heater, my warm car, my brother and sister-in-law's fireplace, multiple blankets on my bed, the body heat from the furry friends, etc... Living in the southern most tip of Indiana we get weird weather. One winter will be mild and the next not so much. This winter has turned out to be the coldest I ever remember. I just want to say that during the past summer, when we had temps over 80-90 degrees and higher, I never once complained because I knew we had the potential for days like this! I will take 100 degree weather any day over this -degree windchill crap! I am very grateful that I have many places and ways to get warm. (Shouts out to my family here in Indiana, if I didn't love you all so much, I'd be outta here and on my way to somewhere warm!)
Today the decision is an easy one! I am thankful for electricity, a warm house and blankets! And that I don't have to go anywhere! Also that I have a doggie door and a fenced in backyard so the furry friends can go outside by themselves!
I am definitely a summer person! Give me heat any day! I never complained about the heat mid July because I knew cold days were coming. I never imagined these temps but any day below 60 is bad to me! Maybe I need to just pack up and move? Or live part of the year in Florida? I wish!
